Phil was a fantastic host and made us very welcome. I would suggest getting the hot tub started as soon as you arrive - it takes a long time to heat up! Definitely make a visit to the Historic Working Farm - great for kids, and the Ludlow Farm shop for great food.

The peace & quite was brilliant. We completely shut ourselves off from the outside world unless traveling to local towns.
Hosts were amazing. Phil makes sure you are ready for the "back to basics" experience and leaves you alone unless really needed, great hosts.
Plus side. no electric, (12-volt battery for lights) no WIFI, No TV, made the trip so peaceful and relaxing. To see dear, rabbits, hear the woodpeckers was just amazing.
Negative-If you like going to the pub, 2 miles to nearest one but we stocked up on Gin & tonic so that wasn't really an issue for us.
Loved the hot tub, but please paddle a couple of times when warming it up. Takes about 3 hours initially but then about 20 minutes subsequent times. It gets very hot, keep an eye on it. Great addition...
Wooden stove is lush. fire it up for the cooking...really easy.
Lock yourself away from the rat race for the most relaxing time.

Fantastic site in the woods, very relaxing and great tents and facilities. The hosts were extremely helpful and have done a great job in keeping the tents and site in fantastic condition. The tents are nicely spaced and very private but close enough if you are in a group. A visit to the Acton Scott farm is a must, the hosts have negotiated free entry for Featherdown guests and it is a great day out and the cafe is also excellent.

We had a fantastic stay at Acton Scott. It was lovely to have some time away and an opportunity to switch off from it all. Our boys had an amazing time playing in the woods, in the hot tub and helping feed and care for the animals at the farm. Mark was a great host and nothing was too much trouble. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

A definite step awa from everyday life! Our 2nd Featherdown experience - this one more like a forest experience with a farm nearby. Appreciated all the wood that was available, and the electric lights were not expected, but actually very useful. Great standard of interiors and equipment etc. Our well behaved Labrador also had a fantastic weekend!

Great fun in the great outdoors! My son wanted to stay for the rest of the year!
Unfortunately the shower didn't work and we were unable to get hold of the farmer to sort it out. Shame he wasn't more proactive and thorough in checking everything was OK. It just needed a new gas bottle, but with no evidence of him and no phone reception on site we had to manage without. A disappointing aspect to what was otherwise an excellent break.
